Hard-Living Comrade

Yeah, that's how I felt like doing my first ever weighted chins! What's more, doubles and triples right away!

Hanging an 8kg kettlebell on my toes, like Pavel suggests in ETK (I have no belt anyway, believe me I would have never thought I would ever need one actually), it was almost like I had style :)
I got a good ab workout at the same time, too: as I only have a bar inserted into the door frame, it's too low, so I had to elevate my legs to have enough space.

Hi Gabi! Great weighted chins! You should not be surprised to have these dialed in...:) Are you working them with an overhand grip too? I am trying to get my swings #s up so my grip doesn't fry or fray at L2.
Your reflections on the RKC cert are spot on. Having prior knowledge provides ability to weave more depth on to what you know and also to be introspective and pro-active with your own practice. My issue was overload and then paranoia that I'd be picked to answer a question and buy us all burpees. Hope the school/paperwork is going as it should.-Kate

I'll feed in some pull up ideas once I get info from RKC 2. Will reunite with Katie who's been my RKC teammate last year.

Do you have a weight belt (for squats and dead lifts)? or any leather belt that is strong enough to hold?

I wear my weight belt loose and hang a kettlebell with chain.
Not the best but works enough.

What a great photo! Your Cert has sent you into strength stratosphere .. that's real strong stuff!!

I would not be surprised if you couldn't bang out 2 to 4 pronated tactical grip pull-ups as well now.

Very nice Gabi! I won't be surprised to see very soon a 12kg and 16kg hanging from those feet as well.

Hi Gabi!!!
Don't need to ask how you are,
you look great!
Thanks again for taping my hands after the vo2. You saved me!

I agree with your thoughts on The RKC. Incredible on all levels.I feel like I have come back from the moon, and I want to tell everyone!

Just reviewing my goals at the moment. But finding it hard to focus what with juggling work, my son, teaching and my training - my brain feels like scrambled egg.
Want to get leaner... but that is happening, and been working on my forearms with bottom up presses.

Anyway I will definitely be back in Hungary for Krav Maga if not, for more kettlebells!!

Thank you, Katie,

I've never worked either chins or pullups seriously or regularly up to now, so it really was a surprise. But that will change :) I still have some difficulties to get the last inch or two of full ROM with overhand grip, I hope controlled negatives will do the job soon.
As for work, I've managed to keep all my deadlines up to now, don't ask me how :D
Enjoy Level II, can't wait to hear all about it! And Costa Rica, too, I'm so envious!

Taikei,

that would be very kind of you, thanks. Like with pistols, I'm sure there are a lot of small details, tricks and hints that really can make the difference.
I don't have a weight belt, but I'm pretty sure, even if it doesn't flatter me at all now, that, for quite a long time, my toes alone will be able to handle much more weight than my whole upper body :)))

Franklin,

thank you for the kind words! The Cert definitely has quite some WTH-effects. A possible explanation might be a general improvement of concentration ability, which then can take effect in most diverse and seemingly unrelated areas.

Howie,

you bet I tried :))) Yesterday, after all the work with the 8, I could only go half the way up with the 12kg, but today, even if with eons of rest and fighting for every inch, I did get a few singles in :)

Hey Sarah,

wow, great to hear from you!!

Coming back from the moon, that's a very good expression, that's exactly how I feel, too! I could (and do, lol) keep talking about it all the time and have a hard time concentrating on everyday tasks.
Bottom up presses - I thought of them just the other day myself. I always sense a kind of tension leakage when I press the 16kg, buttom-ups with the 12 might be the cure.
You ARE getting leaner, even at the moment you're reading this line. It is only a question if you can stick with your plan long enough, and I know you can and you do.
By all means drop me a line when you're coming, I'd love to see you again :)

I've got a fistful of forints that says that Gabi pulls off a 1-handed chin within 1 year! ;-)

No joke, that's true, but a fun move :) And it got me hooked on chin variations, like when one hand grips the bar directly and the other a towel hanging from bar (does this have a name?) - this is what I did today. And it is all Dr. Cheng's fault for making me believe impossible things...;))

The next thing we need is really heavy socks or shoes for pullups. Or, you could get yourself a dipping belt for about 30 worthless US dollars.

Yeah, I could... and I will... it just doesn't look so fancy "spec op style" (Pavel, ETK) ;)))
