Yoga is no joke!

All world is doing yoga... I've been contemplating it for quite a while, and now Fawn delivered the last kick in the ass to get me going :))

Vinyasa For Beginners. A DVD I got from my sister-in-law.
A humbling experience, lol!!
I had to realize I could easily come into most poses, but had major difficulties _maintaining_ those poses. Holy crap, more often than not did I end up on the verge of cramping, swearing like a trooper, or a sailor, whichever is worse, at those crazies telling me all the time this should feel good and I should relax and no tension and such :)))

An indisputable proof of how badly I need this :)

gabi,

I'm humbled by Vinyasa...just a sign I need to do it. It's stinkin' hard, lol

I first tried Vinyasa after practicing Bikram for about 14 months....and I can say I'm really good at Bikram, but it does not translate to "real yoga". I was also in peak fitness & 124-127lbs. I was shocked at how difficult it was for me since I considered myself in "good shape".

My tight hamstrings are the main reason for my limitations.

Tracy,

when others are doing it, it always looks so easy, but I should have known better than to let myself be deceived by that, lol.

I'll have to take being a beginner seriously and ease into the learning process; I'm really curious about how how it'd go - I'm quite sure there'll be lots of benefits.

"Real yoga"...? I thought Bikram was much harder, with all that heat and so...

Hey... Gabi you put me on your blog! I am so flattered!

Yep, Vinyasa is no joke! It gets easier the more you practice... I might have to drag you off to a class in August!!! It will be hot here, so you will like it Tracy!

Bikram yoga is pretty difficult for me... I am not used to heat. My people are from the land of ice and snow.

Ease into it now Gabi. You are physcially smart, you just need some time to teach your body new tricks. Once you get a feel for it, I'm sure you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll take to it. Not to say that it will be easy...

Fawn,

a class, wow, that would be great, I'd gladly go!!
We don't have Bikram over here, but I'll probably get some taste of it in high summer, when temperatures rise into the three-digit-range :)

Mark,

I know I'm repeating myself, but still: the way you keep coming out of your 'comfort zone', challenging yourself pretty hard but wisely, without putting previous achievements to risk is so educational and inspirative, your blog should be required reading for the RKC course.

Howie,

you are right. New movements require new motor programs and they need time. I also hope getting familiar with the sequence itself will help a lot.
